UP

UP

I thought this movie was my favorite Pixar movie ever made. It was so good. It was funny, sad, and beautiful. Its one the best kids films I have seen in a while.

Directed Pete Docter (Walle, Monsters Inc., Toy Story 1&2) this movie tells the story 78-year-old Carl Fredricksen, who grows up with his wife and best friend, both with the desire to see and travel the world, especially a place called paradise falls. They end up never being able to follow their dreams, and one day his wife dies of old age. Carl, bored, old and alone decides to never leave his house. Construction starts around his house, and he refuses to leave. After assaulting a construction worker, he is being issued by the court to go to an old folks home. He refuses to go, and decides to tie a bunch of balloons to his house and float to paradise falls. While on his flying adventure, he finds a Boy Scout on his front porch who decides to go on the adventure to get his “assisting the elderly” badge. They get to paradise falls, and find a bird that gets them in loads of trouble. They are befriended by a dog named Dog, who protects them from a hunter who has been hunting the bird his whole life.

This was such a sweet movie. I actually cried twice in it. It was very touching and heart warming. You really end up loving the characters and wanting Carl to succeed in this story. The characters in this movie are very funny. I especially like the Dog named Doug and the Boy Scout named Russell. A very funny family comedy.
