The Great Buck Howard

This movie was phenomenal. I enjoyed this movie very very very much. It was a good, clean, fun independt film. There aren’t to many good independt films these days that are just pure clean and genius. The Great Buck Howard is one of them.

Written and Directed by Sean McGinly, produced by Tom Hanks, and staring Collin Hanks, John Malkovich and Steve Zhan. This movie tells the story of the Mentalist, Buck Howard. He was a has-been, and still lives in the past. John Malkovich plays Buck Howard. Collin Hanks, plays Troy, a law student drop out who has no clue what he wants to do with his life. He ends up hooking up with the Great Buck Howard, and becomes his road manager and assitant. They go to small towns and do gigs for old people, and it’s the same show in every town. The trick that gets everyone, is when an audience member hides Buck Howards pay, and he has to find it. It blows peoples minds. I honestly don’t want to tell you more of the plot, because I am afraid of spoiling the goodness and surprise of it all. Things start going crazy for Buck, and his success and popularity goes up and down. Is that good or bad? Just watch, and be entertained by this amazing story.

I do love John Malkovich in most movies. I think he has the most amazing tone of voice. I would love for him to do a book on tape, I would buy it in a heart beat. The thing that made this movie so good was that it was a fun plot. It was wholesome, something that everyone can enjoy. It wasn’t raunchy, or perverted in anyone. I don’t think I heard one swear word through out the whole movie. John Malkovich played the most amazing character. Buck Howard was so stuck on himself and in the past that he lives in the glory days of being featured on the Jonny Carson Show 60 times. He is only a big deal to older people, and he doesn’t realize it. He is a big has been, and plays a great job at being a prideful has been.

I enjoyed Collin Hanks character. All of us desire to do what we want to do. Most of us never take that chance. Hanks was in law school, and having the support of his parents. He drops out, and moves to LA and wants to become a writer. Takes a big leap. Meets The Great Buck Howard, and becomes his assistant to make some cash before he decides what he wants to do. Going on his adventures with Buck Howard, and having seen what Buck Howard do what he truly loves, makes him chase his writing
